SAFARI 'Health Nut' Bread

Ingredients

  • 250 ml SAFARI Seedless Raisins
  • 100 ml SAFARI Pecan nuts, coarsely chopped
  • 100 ml SASKO cake flour
  • 500 ml whole-wheat flour
  • 200 ml rolled wheat
  • 1 ml salt
  • 8 ml bicarbonate of soda
  • 50 ml brown sugar
  • 100 ml sunflower seeds, lightly roasted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 grated green apple
  • 500 ml Bulgarian yoghurt or buttermilk
  • 30 ml sesame or linseed

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180° C.
  2. Mix all dry ingredients, raisins, seeds and nuts well together.
  3. Beat egg and mix with grated apple and yoghurt. Stir into dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Pour into greased bread pan and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  5. Bake for 1.5 - 2 hours until done.
